New York
Whether your passion is culture and heritate, food and wine, art or shopping, New York offers it in abundance. Whilst the City is great for a 3 or 4 night break in itself, it is also easy to combine with Washington DC to the South or Boston to the North (perhaps taking the Amtrak train to avoid airports) for a longer holiday.
Often referred to as an ‘island off the coast of Europe’ there is a lot of truth in this witticism as UK visitors will feel more at home than in other States such as California. Manhattan island features the open spaces of Central Park to the North below which is Midtown, Downtown and then Lower Manhattan where you can find the Statue of Liberty offshore. Top attractions in addition to Central Park and the Statue include the Empire State Building with Observation Deck, Fifth Avenue boasting glamorous shops and landmark buildings, Times Square with its ever-changing Neon signs and the worlds largest Chinatown alongside an incredible array of Museums such as The Metrpolitan, Guggenheim and Cooper-Hewitt.
Weekend breaks will therefore be action-packed, so we suggest extending in to the week for a few days which will also give you the chance to sample the extensive array of excellent restaurants representing almost every type of culinary experience!
