Two truly boutique Lodges with only a total of only 10 luxurious suites between them, nestle in the foothills of the Winterhoek Mountain range with far reaching views over the Karoo. As such, Blauuwbosch offers an exclusive Big Five safari experience at a surprisingly reasonable cost.

- Each Lodge has a private swimming pool, open spaces and wonderful verandahs with breathtaking views.
- 2 Game Drives daily in to the Private Reserve which now includes Lion and Elephant. Recent re-introductions also include Hippo and Serval. Those clients wishing to take young children on drives have access to a private vehicle for an additional cost.
- Game walks can also be taken (minimum age of 10) as the Lion are in a separated area of the Reserve.
Bars & Restaurants
- Excellent dining with an emphasis on fresh, contemporary flavours complimented with a fine selection of South African wines.
Overview
Whilst no particular facilities are provided for children, all ages are welcome at the main lodge where additional beds / bunk beds are available in the very spacious suites. Please note that for children under 6 years generally families are asked to book a private game drive vehicle for an additional cost of approx ZAR 1,500 payable locally (confirmed at time of enquiry).

Safety
- Animals: The Main Lodge is unfenced but located in an area of the Reserve separated from the Lion.
- Water: The swimming pool is the only deep water at the Lodge.
Room types
The Main Lodge offers only 6 stunning suites, all with mountain views, that can accommodate 14 guests. The luxury accommodation is spacious and designed to create your own sanctuary with generous bathrooms and dressing rooms and beds made with the finest linen.
New Kaai’s Camp (available during High Season) has 4 rooms accommodating a maximum of 8 guests. It again benefits from panoramic views and accommodation of the highest standards.
Family
A family room with bunk beds is available in the Main Lodge or families can be accommodated in other suites with additional beds.
Rates
Rates from £168 per night per adult sharing, inclusive of 3 meals, and 2 guided excursions per day (valid 01/05/11 – 31/12/11).
Family
- Children under 2 free of charge
- On application, but approximately 50% dependent on age
- Children in their own room pay adult rate
- Private game drive vehicle (by choice or necessary if you wish to take children under 6 years on a game drive) approx ZAR 1,500 per day, payable locally (please confirm).

The development of the Reserve is part of an energetic initiative to bring meaningful work to the families who live beyond the more viable cities. Those from the local community are trained as trackers, in catering, housekeeping and guest liaison.

Everything and more you could possibly wish for. Wayne our ranger was fabulous, we ‘Walked and Stalked’ with Cheetah which was very unreal! Had a fabulous New Years Eve dinner, all the food was magnificent (Mr & Mrs Lamont, December 08).
